Seasons Tique in Stillwater Closed Store – Donates all Remaining Merchandise to Hope Chest for Breast Cancer
Orono/Navarre, MN–January 24, 2007–Seasons Tique, a holiday merchandise store in Stillwater, MN, decided to close down its store. Owner Will Rogers held a closeout sale, but did have around 9,000 holiday ornaments and items left over. Will Rogers decided to donate the items to a good cause helping local Minnesotans experiencing breast cancer.
Yesterday the Hope Chest for Breast Cancer, a non-profit raising money for breast cancer causes through the sale of donated upscale furniture, accessories and women’s designer clothing at Hope Chest for Breast Cancer Retail Stores, arrived with their trailer and packed up all of the remaining merchandise and brought it back to the Hope Chest warehouse. Hope Chest hopes to use this wonderful donation to have a special event, “Christmas in July”, to sell these items.
“We are thrilled with the support from Seasons Tique in Stillwater and were amazed at the amount of items in the donation. Through the sale of this Christmas merchandise, we can help the underserved women in the Twin Cities area touched by breast cancer. One of our main objectives is to take the daily financial burden off of a woman with this disease so that she can focus solely on getting better. Through our patient services program at the University of Minnesota Cancer Center, we can assist women with their day-to-day living expenses such as mortgage, day care, food, transportation to chemotherapy, etc. On Tuesday we will present $50,000, our second contribution, to the program at the Cancer Center,” states Barbara Hensley, founder of the Hope Chest for Breast Cancer. Hensley lost her two sisters and her mother to breast cancer.
Rogers states, “In my decision to close our business, I saw this as an opportunity to go out doing something worthwhile and good. It was a win-win for everybody involved. The Hope Chest made the donation so easy by coming and packing it up themselves and the tax deduction will be a bonus. I was happy to help in their mission to support women who need assistance during such a difficult time. I believe in working with local charities like the Hope Chest which, like Seasons Tique, is home grown and was founded in the Twin Cities.”
