5th Annual ROCK THE CURE
Presented by Rolling Rock
Fri and Sat, May 4th and 5th
Tina Schlieske's LOLA AND THE RED HOTS GO PINK!
Join us as we ROCK THE CURE, banding together to fight breast cancer, for a full weekend of music and celebration at O'Gara's in St Paul.
Friday May 4th , Join Tim Sigler (Lucky Town, Tim Sigler Band) in the Shamrock Room for an intimate, candlelit evening of acoustic rock and country music. No cover charge, but your $10 donation will buy you a song request.
Saturday May 5th , It's Tina Schlieske (Tina and The B-Sides) bringing her alter ego, Lola and the Red Hots, to the stage at O'Gara's Garage. From Janis Joplin to ACDC, Tina's passion and energy make her a perfect person to help us honor women fighting breast cancer. Opening for Tina is the Street Team from the St Paul School of Rock, a super-talented group of teenagers playing classic rock covers. Doors open at 7pm, music starts at 8pm. Silent auction, door prizes. Tickets are $15, and are available in advance from info@rockthecure.org.
In 2006, Rock The Cure fund raisers (underwritten by the MN tax-exempt nonprofit Blue Jeanne Inc) resulted in donations of almost $40,000 to local breast cancer charities, including the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation Twin Cities Race for the Cure, Open Arms, and The Sage Program. We have worked with many Twin Cities musicians, including Adam Levy and the Honeydogs, Tina Schlieske, Sherwin Linton, GB Leighton, Molly Maher, Mick Sterling, The Hopefuls, Tim Mahoney and others. www.rockthecure.org.
The first Rock The Cure benefit was held in 2003, after one mom, a back-up singer in the band Lucky Town, met another mom, who had just undergone a double mastectomy. Their story is a beautiful one of two people who met by chance for a greater purpose...it deserves to be told as often as possible.
For more information or to arrange an interview, please contact Angie Palomo, President of Blue Jeanne Inc, at angie@rockthecure.org or call 612-207-4946.
