North Memorial also unveiled the official name of its new multi-disciplinary breast center – “The Hope Chest Breast Center of North Memorial.”

The Hope Chest Breast Center, located at North Memorial’s Robbinsdale campus, will open its doors to patients at the end of June 2007. The new center is being designed with input from past patients in hopes of creating a remarkable experience for those who visit and use the facility. Each patient at The Hope Chest Breast Center will have a single point of contact – a Breast Health Nurse Coordinator – who will help them navigate through their treatment process and empower them to become active participants in the management of their breast health.

The name, Hope Chest, comes from a collaboration between North Memorial and Hope Chest for Breast Cancer which raises funds through the sale of designer-quality women’s clothing and accessories, as well as upscale furniture and home decor that are donated by retail stores, manufacturers, interior designers and individuals. Hope Chest for Breast Cancer then funds local projects that provide support to those touched by breast cancer. The organizations that receive funding are focused on education on the importance of early detection, outreach to underserved families experiencing breast cancer, hospice care, and research into the cause and the cure of breast cancer.

“It was very apparent to us that Hope Chest for Breast Cancer was is organization with a passion for helping women improve their breast care,” explains Joe Boston, Chief Development Officer at North Memorial. “And when two organizations who share that same passion come together, great strides can be made in effectively helping those who battle breast cancer.”

We are thrilled to help support North Memorial, an organization dedicated to compassionate breast health care in a welcoming environment and to helping find a cure for breast cancer,” explains Barbara Hensley, founder of the Hope Chest and breast cancer survivor. “We look forward to a long-term partnership that truly provides remarkable care for women at Hope Chest Breast Center.”
